Ina Garten is an American author of cookery books and Emmy Award-winning host for Food Network's longest-running program Barefoot Contessa which began broadcasting in 2002 and will run for 27 seasons to 2020. Ina Garten started her professional career at the White House where she wrote nuclear energy policies and budget documents. Although she initially found it fascinating, eventually she lost interest. She then bought the Barefoot Contessa a small speciality food shop. After nearly 18 years of making the business a massive success, she decided to sell it and started writing her first book. Many different cookbooks and magazines followed. She also appeared on the Food Network TV show also was launched with great success. In addition, she sells everything from cooking equipment to supplies and containers. Ina did not go to a cooking school and has not had any experience in a restaurant. She's completely self-taught. Her name is known for her easy approach to entertainment and simple food preparation. She is well-known for her quick and easy recipes, such as Skillet Roasted Lemon Chicken, Macaroni and Cheese using Beef Bourguignon as well as the Balsamic-Roasted Brussels Sprouts.
